Prose from 1991

It all came back to me last night.

We had been fighting
for a month
and suddenly,
there we were.
At the bar (was it kahlua?)
So we drank and it started
the banter, back and forth
All in good fun.
Before we knew it
the bar closed up
so we left
but not without a case of beer
(was it Rolling Rock?)
And we set out for Smith College.
Were we walked across the
campus-
Falls and river and bridges and a lake.
You're big Joe, you tower over me.
We walk and talk
and drink (or Bud?)
Then dark dissolves-
and it is light
We hear birds, singing
(it is April?)
And we have lost sense of time.
And we have short attention spans.
And we hear the water fall.
And I sing, drunk.
